In recent years, DC’s food truck scene has exploded, giving chefs from all over the region the chance to share their talents without the expense of a brick and mortar restaurant. Finding them used to be touch and go, happenstance, a chance lucky encounter between your appetite and geographic location, but now there’s an app for that. Enter Food Truck Fiesta, a geolocator that lets you find your favorite truck or a specialty you’re hankering after, or get a review on the vendor before you get lunch.
On a recent day, the site had over 216 DC-area food trucks listed as active, with a short stack of other trucks that don’t tweet their whereabouts. If you can’t locate a truck with Food Truck Fiesta, or you’re moving on to take in another local, try Roaming Hunger, a national site that covers several cities. Many trucks post their whereabouts on Instagram and Twitter, so I can follow my favorites daily. Oh, and if you decide you’d like to try your hand at owning one, Food Truck Fiesta also lists trucks for sale.
