There comes a moment in every cheese lover’s life when he tastes that one perfect cheese he was searching for all his life and never forgets it. That’s what happened to me in Sirana Gligora. Cheese made on the island Pag is world-known as high-quality cheese, but Gligora from Pag raises the bar.

Not long ago, the cheese factory Gligora opened a shop only a few blocks from my apartment. Excited about the new cheese shop in my neighborhood, I went to check it out. I already knew Gligora had won a lot of prizes, including the ones for the best cheese in the world.

After tasting some delicious samples, I encountered Gligorin Paški Sir. That was my perfect cheese moment to remember! The milk for this cheese comes from sheep eating grass, which the strong island winds spray with sea water. This phenomenon happens almost nowhere else but on the island Pag, and that makes Pag’s sheep and their products supreme compared to others.

You can find a lot of information about Gligora on their website, but for me, the flavors and smells you can experience in this shop are indubitably unique and hard to translate in words. For true cheese lovers, this place is a temple of smelly white and yellow circles! Also, I don’t mind the fact that only a few steps away there’s a wine tasting shop with some high-quality Croatian wines from eastern region of Slavonia that blend perfectly with cheese. I mean, just saying…
