Taste of Culture is where you will find all of the locals having dinner. Located in the city centre, it is usually an area local people avoid, because it is filled with cafes, restaurants, and bars that tend to be absolute tourist traps. One of the reasons I like Amsterdam so much is if you know where to go, the experience is great.
And let me tell you about the experience you will get at Taste of Culture. When you walk in, you won't expect much. It looks very dated and does not have the cozy feeling you can get at other restaurants (if you want that, check my article about Cafe Cook). However, the food here is amazing and that is really the reason locals go here. The menu has a lot of options but everything is executed really well. My favorite: the dim sum and the Peking duck. My favorite dim sum are the steamed dumplings and the spring rolls. The Peking duck comes with pancakes, a sauce, and veggies.
The food is not cheap, but worth it if you feel like having some nice Peking duck!
