When a relationship ends, there’s always a question of what to do with things that remind you of your significant other. Keep them? Throw them away? Burn them? Here’s a different idea – why not donate it all to a museum? Specifically, the Museum of Broken Relationships.
It’s an extraordinary collection of items that had once been exchanged between romantic partners who later broke up. Teddy bears, jewellery, underwear, photographs, sex toys… Every little exhibit has its own background and it played a part in a real-life story of a certain couple. The collection started as a travelling exhibition, but once the word got out, people got to donating their personal items and the project ended up as a permanent showcase in a palace in the Upper town.
The museum is becoming internationally famous due to its original concept and it’s a must-see. You can think of it as just a collection of random emotional memories. However, it can also make for a cathartic experience that, in the end, shows you the obvious – heartbreak is a universal thing, but everyone goes through it in a different way.
