Torte i To (Cakes and such) is a cafe franchise consisting of five pastry shops/cafes in Zagreb, being one of the first in Zagreb to offer both coffee and a snack with no smoking allowed.

My favorite Torte i to is in Babonićeva street, in a quiet part of the town, just north of Kvaternik Square. There are about a dozen tables on the inside, on two floors. The upper floor provides a lot of privacy, while also offering an opportunity to gather with friends to watch TV, most likely soccer games, as it has a large TV. There is also a terrace, completely hidden from the street by a decorative wall. There are about 10 tables, as well as a small playground for children, as families are common and welcome guests.

Torte i To offers a wide variety of pastry and my absolute favorite is Čokovišnja cake (chococherry – the name says it all). Combined with a fine fruity tea, it’s a sensation for the palate. The cafe is most famous for its classic cheesecake, which is also very tasty. Many other pastry shops have tried to replicate the recipe, but the original Torte i to cheesecake is still a delicious mystery.

If you like exploring quieter parts of the town, close to the center that are green and peaceful, and you want to take a break for some coffee and sweets, this is definitely a place to see.
