Sometimes on a rain-sodden afternoon when I'm out walking Winnie the dog I emerge from Kelvingrove Park at the bottom of Byres Road and think to myself, should I continue with my drenched march homewards OR should I pop into The Three Judges for a pint of tasty and comforting real ale, (perfect on a chilly Winters day), dry off and enjoy a friendly chat...Winnie drags me in and leaves me no choice!
The Three Judges is a traditional old pub, generally with an older clientele of regulars, the odd student and the occasional boozer. It's on Dumbarton Road and close to the Kelvingrove Art Galleries and the heart of the West End. The pub is famous for its fantastic array of real ales and ciders with 'guest' ales appearing every month. Three Judges has won many awards for its beers over the years and the staff are knowledgeable and welcoming, always on hand for beer advice and will even let you taste before you buy!
As well as real ales there is a wide variety of continental beers. Lovely Belgian White beers, American lagers and French Trappiste ales to name but a few. There's also a regular farmhouse cider on tap, changed every other month, this is always my particular favourite, but deceptively strong! And there is a limited food menu available.
The pub is famous for its Sunday Traditional Jazz sessions, so if you want to see All the Saints Marching In, this is the place!
