This club is steeped in history and is an important part of the world's sporting heritage. Hamilton Crescent (as the grounds are formally named) hosted the world's first ever documented international football (soccer) match. The game was between Scotland and England.
The grounds house sentimental memories for multiple generations. My grandfather, father, and I have all played cricket there, and Grandpa always spoke so highly of the place, having lived in Glasgow himself and enjoyed the quiet respite the ground provides the city's west end.
Hamilton Crescent is now home to the 'West of Scotland Cricket Club', who use the ground regularly for training and games at the weekend.
I love to visit when there is cricket being played or just whenever I am passing by. The standing stalls on the walk up to the vintage clubhouse really add to the atmosphere, and I am so glad that the club has preserved the pavillion beautifully to this day.
