Located 10 minutes walk away from Partick Train Station and nestled behind the Riverside Museum is a riverside skate park which holds history as well as providing much entertainment.
The Riverside Museum Skate Park is an ideal place for beginner and experienced skaters to show off and practice their moves, with ramps and features varying from inches off the ground up to some at 3-4ft (waist height). For those who don't feel like getting involved with the skaters, the spot is great for people-watching and other activities. It is as picturesque as it is functional, with the new govan footbridge crossing the river, the riverside museum, and the tall ship all contributing to the gorgeous scenery.
If you have time to visit the riverside museum, they have an exhibit which shows how the skatepark was saved from near-certain destruction by the local skateboarding community. Their favourite obstacles still stand there today amongst a freshly designed park, all because of their grit and determination.
If that isn't skateboarding in a nutshell, then I don't know what is.
