Bar Oldenhof is an old-fashioned, high-end cocktail bar located right in the trendy Joordan neighborhood of Amsterdam. The menu has a large selection of cocktails, which are very tasty.
The first thing to notice is that there is no sign and the place might as well not exist from the outside, as it has thick velvet curtains covering the front windows. Also, the door is locked, so once you get there, you will have to ring T-H-E bell and then wait until one of the friendly well-dressed bartenders opens the door and (hopefully) finds a nice table for you. Here, bookings are not accepted; however, you can call 10-15 minutes before getting there to check if there is any availability.
Once you enter, you will feel like you have been thrown into the past, with its high ceilings and wooden décor, armchairs, and velvet surrounding you. It is an intimate venue with dimmed lights, ideal for a couple's night out! I personally enjoy sitting upstairs, as you get a beautiful view over the first floor’s atmosphere.
