In a seemingly simple residential house in Amsterdam North, you can find a true Mexican hidden oasis. Coba Taqueria is the Mexican place I’ve been longing for in Amsterdam. Traditional tacos, unexpected flavor combinations, amazing cocktails and a crazy cool interior. It's a new ultimate favorite in my book.
Once you step into this boring-looking building, you enter a restaurant that looks like a neighborhood favorite in a small town somewhere in Mexico. The industrial space is filled with colorful decorations while Spanish music gets you in the mood. You quickly forgive the uncomfortable stools once the friendly staff brings out the tacos. From the handmade traditional tortillas to the unexpected ingredients they’re topped with – it’s all perfection. My absolute favorite dish was the taco with black pudding and mango salsa. A combination I would have never chosen myself, but it works out so incredibly well. And to top it all off – or to flush it all down – do not forget to try their margaritas. They’re dangerously good (but don’t drink more than three if you still want to get off that stool graciously – spoken from experience).
The menu changes often, so there’s a good chance you can spot me there regularly because from now on, I have to taste every taco Coba comes up with.
