Local food transformed into art. It is almost impossible to describe the experience you will have at BAK. First of all, the location is very cool. It is in an old warehouse, top floor, overlooking Het IJ. It is small and cozy, without too many tables, and the interior makes you feel at home. Or at least, someone’s home, instead of a restaurant. The service is extremely nice and helpful and will guide you through the evening.
The cool thing is, there is no menu. There is one but you have no choice. They change it almost every month based on the local produce and season. This results in very interesting, funny and exclusive dishes: from smokey pigeon egg in burning hay to a dish called ‘Carrot’ with smoked, pureed, fried and mashed carrot.
They have a great selection of wines as well. And based on the dishes they serve, you can get a wine menu with that as well: greatly balanced and complimentary to the food they serve.
If you like to experiment and don’t mind trying out new things while at the same being pampered, this is your place.
