"Fer vermut" is Catalan for 'doing vermut'. It's a cherished local (weekend) tradition amongst the locals. Typically enjoyed in the early afternoon or late morning, this ritual involves sipping vermut — an aromatic fortified wine — often served over ice with a slice of orange and an olive. Originally to bridge the time between church and lunch, it is now the perfect start of your weekend day to catch up with your family or friends.
I recently discovered Morro Fi, and it's a little modern bar that lives & breathes the vermut tradition. Sure, you can get a cold beer as well, but the concept is all about vermut and the typical snacks that come with it.
Get your appetite started with a glass of local vermut joined with some chips covered in 'aperitivo' sauce. Snack some salty "berberechos" if you're in for a seafood at the start of your afternoon. The vibe is young, local and at times a little bit hipster. But located a little out of the centre, it is a local vibe you wouldn't want to miss. Cheers!
