Born is the home of my favorite and most beautiful church in Barcelona: Santa Maria del Mar. From the inside and outside I think it is stunning and the fact it was once built for the common people of Barcelona makes me love it even more. More people must agree with me, because it is also a very popular wedding location.
In the shadows of the Santa Maria you'll find a cute little wine bar; La Vinya del Senyor. It is tiny, with only a few tables on the terrace and inside. If you are a wine lover this is the place to go, because the menu is many pages of special wines and cavas from all over the world. No acid white wine or 'headache' cava, but a decent selection. They may be a bit more expensive than a glass of wine in a general bar, and some special wines only go per bottle. But you will still find something on the menu fit for every wallet.
In summer I like to sit down on the terrace and enjoy the view of the square with a cool glass of cava or white wine. In winter I opt for the cosy inside and a warm red wine, but the view remains the same in any season. Tourists, street artists, locals and, if you are very lucky a parade of beautiful dresses and handsome Spaniards in suits when a wedding party arrives for church!
