L'Ane Fou is a typical Belgian brasserie, with a short menu focusing on local specialties: Belgian beers, Belgian dishes, and a few surprises such as the Chili con carne, served in small bowls, Tex-Mex style.
The place is extremely friendly, with clients of all ages, languages, and walks of life, reflecting the diversity of the neighborhood. You can come here to play board games, catch up with friends, or enjoy dinner with colleagues or family. The decor is very original, with a clutter of objects, books, and mementos illustrating the Belgian culture: Tintin comics, old vinyl of Jacques Brel, travel books, stuffed animals, musical instruments, and hundreds of other little things which give the place an artsy and cozy atmosphere.
I personally go there for drinks or for lunch with colleagues - everyone instantly feels welcome. The bar staff is friendly and efficient and prices are extremely affordable. I recommend this place for an authentic taste of Brussels, away from better-known tourist traps.
