Right in the center of the city, within walking distance from one of the most crowded squares in Bucharest, you can find this self-service restaurant which you might pass by without noticing. Self-service restaurants are great when you just need to feed yourself for a decent price.
'Self Service Amzei' is very well located and it offers a wide range of dishes. More than this, the prices are great. The place is clean and the space inside is big enough.
I just paid a visit and had some cabbage with polenta and grilled chicken for 22 lei (~€ 5). I was with a friend and it was enough food for both of us. The menu can be found on their website but there is also a daily menu to choose from. You can find main courses, salads and desserts. I had an apple pie which, besides the fact that it was big, was also very tasty.
Us Romanians like to have big dishes and it is a sign of politeness to give guests a lot of food, otherwise the host might be considered cheap. Well, following this unwritten rule, in many restaurants things are similar and dishes are quite big. At Amzei it is exactly so.
Enjoy your lunch at 'Self Service Amzei'.
