Michael Kühn loves coffee. He is so passionate about it that he opened up his own roastery-workshop-café in a hidden backyard of Köln-Sülz where he is experimenting with different roasts, repairing coffee machines and offering delicious coffee specialties.
When strolling along Ägidiusstraße, be careful not to miss the big bag (originally used for coffee beans) that marks the entrance to the artists' workshops. On the right-hand side, at the end of the backyard, you will have reached the cafe! A warm scent of roasted coffee, a cosy interior and at least one family member of the Kühns welcome the visitors inside.
I especially love this place in wintertime because you can sit near the fire place while enjoying your hot coffee - but in summer it's equally nice to take a seat outside soaking up the idyllic artsy backyard.
Before leaving, don't forget to take away your package of coffee: Espresso No 1, House Blend, Bruno, Carlo, Kalla or Klärchen - just ask to find out which sort fits your favourite method of coffee brewing.
Just another note: when planning your visit, please check the opening hours. As Michael has another "regular" job, Jackson is open on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays only. But you can also taste Jackson's House Blend in our Büdchen am Nikolausplatz!
