I learned about Kimchi on, I think it was Stephen Fry on the popular comedy quiz, (where I obtain most of my useless info!), QI. I didn't know about these nations', North and South, absolute obsession with fermented cabbage! I was skeptical I'll admit, but once tried, you can't stop!
Kimchi Cult is a first in Scotland and I doubt it'll be the last. It is a tiny fast food take-away and sit-in joint, providing burgers, grilled meats, dumplings, (Bao's) and veggie options with the addition of Kimchi and other mouth watering spice laden relishes and accompaniments. I must admit I have become a wee bit obsessed with the sharp, spicy, sour, savoury goodness of Kimchi and appreciate their mastery of the art, using ancient recipes passed down through the ages and over the seas.
It's a great alternative to the usual Chinese or Thai fare with dishes such as Bulgogi Ox cheek with kimchi, spring onions and sesame seeds, Pork belly with pickled cucumber and Sriracha or Chicken thighs with hoisin sauce, a sweet gochujang hot sauce or a soy glaze. You can try a Bibimbap purple rice dish with a meat or veg option of your choosing or just go for a big burger and chips smothered in kimchi and relish.
Kimchi Cults menu is always evolving with mouth watering Korean fried chicken, Panko prawns and new vegan options to try.
