I love taking pictures and making photo tours in Istanbul. And this area is one of the best for that.
Yeldeğirmeni is an up-and-coming neighborhood on the Asian side, Kadıköy. It has a very old history and traditional life is still ongoing. This traditional neighborhood has hosted different ethnicities such as Armenians, Jews and Greeks since the 15th century, a few of whom still reside there. Besides that, hip and trendy places are increasing day by day and evolution is on the way. This area is an alternative spot for those who love to spend time in an off the beaten path.
In addition, Mural Istanbul street Art fest has been taking place in this neighborhood, so it's a very good alternative for pro or semi-pro photographers like me to catch unique scenes. 3 of my favourite paintings can be found on the walls of Karakolhane street. After having my Sunday breakfast from the old bakery that's located on the same street, I start my tour.
