I discovered Jasmin many years ago and need to say that for all these years it has remained almost the same as I saw it the first time. There's Chinese staff working here, many of the visitors are actually Chinese people as well. They don’t have a good looking menu and the bills are handwritten (with Chinese characters). And I strongly believe that it is better not to see and know what happens in their kitchen.
In Ukraine, we often describe such a place with the word “hendelyk”. It is where you have the simplest beer from plastic cups and some food that's far from fancy Franch dishes.
However, even with all of the above, I still try to bring all my friends here. And tell everyone who could be interested in Chinese cuisine about this place. And the reason for that is because it is really authentic and very similar to what they have in China. My good friend who studied his major in China has told me that Jasmin is very similar to standard Chinese cafes in its menu as well as its appearance.
Another thing is that there are few such purely Chinese eateries in Kyiv, most of Kyiv's Chinese cafes are Chinese only in name, but in fact - a hodgepodge of Asian cuisine, with a predominance of Vietnamese, Thai, but not Chinese. So, whoever wants to taste a piece of pure Chinese cuisine - you can safely go to Jasmine...
