Kaffa was always a unique place for me. It is quite surprising how it has remained not so famous and popular for so many years, and at the same time, it is located right in the city center (only one block from Maidan Nezalezshnosti (Independence Square)). So, when you go inside, it is a good chance to escape from the noise of the busy street outside.
They call themself a “coffee theatre” where their guests are the actors and different ways to make coffee is the play itself. It is great that this place which was opened in 1998 has survived all the revolutions and economical changes that have taken place in Kyiv. I prefer the idea that even before the modern wave of small coffee restaurants, Kyiv already had such places. I believe locals who live in the center still come here on their weekends to have a small cup of coffee and a talk with a friend. I’ve seen it many times, have done it myself as well.
