This is a popular and old trick for Europe and a new and exciting one for us. It's when a developer buys an old abandoned plant or a factory with all its premises and turns it into a multifunctional entertaining venue.
It all started when a guy, inspired by a trip abroad, decided to organise a street food festival in Kyiv. In a couple of years this festival grew from a small, 10-participants, party to a huge event for thousands of visitors. That's when he and his team decided to go further and they created a permanent place for their festival on the grounds of a factory near Lisova Metro station. Now lots of events are going on there. Concerts, handicrafts and flea markets, different shows and entertainment, master classes, lectures and dozens of different festivals. There are coffee shops, co-working places, playgrounds, parks etc. The area is constantly growing and getting better.
One of my favorite events is the Kurazh Bazar flea market at Platforma. (Check the Kurazh Bazar article).
