Madrid is getting BUSY! The world finally has the Capital firmly on its radar - well it had to happen sometime. These days places I like can change overnight and sometimes folks, I find I just don’t like them anymore! So I’m always on the lookout for fresh spots (to share with you!) Tirso De Molina Market is my new favourite place to meet friends for an informal bite these days. It incorporates 2 things I love - a great variety of little food stalls all under one roof and a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, full of locals enjoying themselves.
Designed by Luis Bellido, (well-known as the architect of the famous Matadero) and purpose-built in 1932, like all the markets in Madrid it was dying a slow death due to people’s food shopping habits changing.
Happily, new life has been breathed into this gem thanks to the many superb little restaurants that have opened shop here - you can check out the web page to plan your visit. We like La Desahuciada -fabulous wines, cheeses and tapas, and a passionately foodie owner.
A word to the wise; the market closes at 11pm on the weekend- when you hear the bell, it’s time to drink up!
