15 square meters. 15 minutes plays. 15 spectators.
Located in an old brothel Microteatro por dinero is a new way to go to the theater. Each month they pick a subject: "For money", "For love", "For the others", "For vanity"...and they offer 21 different visions of it. And the best of it is that it's like theater on demand. When you arrive you choose how many and which plays you want to see (€4.50 each play). Each day 5 plays are represented simultaneously.
All plays are represented every 25 minutes. So you see one play, then you can wait at the bar and have something to eat while admiring the art exhibitions that they have, and then go downstairs again to see another play in one of the three small rooms where the plays are performed. Also, if you don't feel like waiting, you can check the program online and buy your tickets in advance.
At first it can be a bit shocking to be that close to the actors, but you can feel the emotion of the performers in front of you, while you as a silent audience also become part of the play. Their movements and gestures are so close that your reaction in here will be much deeper than in a traditional theater. It was a complete new thrilling experience for me.
