I thought that I'd been everywhere in Munich and that there was no place someone could recommend to me, that I didn't know already. But this cinema was totally new for me and I asked myself why I hadn't been there in the years that I've lived in Munich. It's like a small pearl or a paradise for cinemaniacs, who love to see films in English or independent movies, not in a high quality dolby surround system that hurt your ears, but in an old cinema atmosphere smelling of popcorn.
First you buy some snacks or popcorn, a soft drink or beer and walk outside in direction to the cinemas. I love the patio in front of the different cinemas. It has a kind of retro flair with its colourful chains of lights, the benches next to the virginia creeper. Even waiting before the movie starts is a kind of entertainment. And afterwards I feel like I have to stay for one more drink to enjoy the unique atmosphere.
My conclusion: you do not necessarily need to watch a movie - enjoy the atmosphere in the patio.
"Yol" Munich is one of my favorites in the row or restaurants, named after a Turkish movie from 1982, serving delicious Greek Turkish cuisine.

"Wirtshaus in der Au" Munich is my suggestion for a typical Bavarian restaurant with all the Schmankerl. Pro tip: after you have eaten, ask for a schnapps.

"Roecklplatz" Munich is one of my favorite spots for lovely presented, good food. Their selection of salads with unusual ingredients, their meat dishes...

"Zum Kloster" to me looks like what a typical Munich restaurant would look like in the '40s. Although it is a proper restaurant, it feels like a gastropub.

"Reichenbach Kiosk" in Munich has saved me a few times when I had forgotten to buy things like eggs or bread... It's the city's only 24/7 - cherish it!

"Stemmerhof" Munich is a real gem I visit fairly often. It was Munich’s last proper dairy farm until 1992 and has been turned into a great public space.

"Attentat Griechischer Salat" in Munich doesn't just make salads. Theirs are filling, creative... It takes the whole idea of salad to the next level!

"Freiheizhalle" Munich is a music hall/venue with great acoustics, something not as common as I'd expect, especially with ex-factories/power stations...

"La Taqueria Milagros" is a Mexican restaurant in Munich that does away with cliches. I love the interior design and recommend that you eat slowly here...

"Charlie" Munich is an excellent modern Vietnamese restaurant which I highly recommend not just for their food but especially for their concept and style!
