Deep in the heart of South Philadelphia, there is a place that sells dough that is cooked or fried or baked. Then they put sugar or icing on it and most of these items typically have a hole in them! Some however are stuffed with sweet cream or frosting or jelly. This place does more than just donuts though. They have even invented their own Italian American creation called the Franolli. This creation can only be found at one place in the world and that is Frangelli's Bakery & Donut shop. They basically took a cannoli and donut and combined them into this very rich but very tasty breakfast sugar explosion.
Frangelli's Bakery has been supporting South Philly and its visitors since 1947. They also do cakes, cookies and anything else that provides a fix for people that need their sweet tooth soothed over in the morning. Everything is made from scratch every day and it really is wonderful. So please come on down and try a Franolli or one of my favorites, the caramel sea salt donut.
