Something that has become quite popular these days is shopping for a cause and I can't think of a more fun and interesting way to do that than at Philly AIDS Thrift.
You could spend hours in this thrift store because the more you dig, the more interesting things you will find. Philly AIDS Thrift is not your typical thrift store. I am not sure if it's because they are in the city or if a lot of their clientèle is hip cool people, but they have more unique items than any other thrift store you will find. They have a great assortment of vintage along with newer more mainstream items.
Proceeds from the sale of their items go to AIDS charities, so every dollar you spend is helping others. The store is quite large, spanning over two floors, offering everything from furniture, clothing, and books to records, DVDs, and CDs. And they are more than a thrift store. They offer free HIV testing as well. Even if you don't find anything you need, you can also donate something while you are there.
