Podgorica is getting more and more modern each and every day and nowadays you can see examples of modern architecture everywhere, even at those places where they don't really fit in. However, in some parts of town you can still find examples of architecture from the socialist period and I just love those buildings. For example, the buildings of the national television, the main hospital and the Old Government building are built in that style, made of concrete and looking very massive. They are all situated close to the city centre.
When it comes to residential buildings the most popular neighborhood is Blok 5 (check out the article "Blok V") and Blok 6 -- they all have tall solitaires grouped in blocks, often of irregular shape. You can find examples of architecture from this period in other parts of town, but there is a risk that you won't be able to notice them because of all of the new buildings surrounding them (: .
