This is the first movie theater in Prishtina and it’s located in the heart of it. Opened in the 1960s under the name “Kino Vëllaznimi”(brotherhood) and renovated in the year 2000, it has an old-school look with a cozy interior that makes you feel as if you’re at a tea party. The theatre has a uniform, elegant velvet tint, but the lounge area is my favourite part of it, as it connects me with the era of the city before my time.
I was five years old when my older siblings took me to see my first movie here – “Mr. Bean’s Holiday” – and I remember how I felt back then every time I walk back in there. The staff is very friendly, it’s never late on premiering movies in 2D or 3D and I love the connection it has with native cinema. It’s the epitome of a local business, remaining uncommercialized for more than half a century.
