"Follow me reader! Who told you that there is no true, faithful, eternal love in this world! May the liar's vile tongue be cut out!"... The Master and Margerita by Mikhail Bulgakov is one of my favourite novels, I read it several times: in school, the university, nowdays and always discover there's something new.
I had some concerns when buying the ticket to the musical that it might not fit my high expectations. But amazingly it turned out to be the opposite. The interpretation, acting, music, and costumes were fantastic. I enjoyed it very much. Especially the St. Petersburg actor Ivan Ozhogin in the role of Voland, memories of his singing still give me goosebumps. There is no meed to speak fluently Russian to follow the performance but reading the book is a must. Do not be discouraged - in English there are 7 translations available, the same quantity in Chinese, as well as in German, French, Polish, Italian, Spanish and Japanese.
For several years this show has been sold out for every performance. The actors create a special atmosphere during intermission as well. Cat Behemoth walks around the audience, Annushka serves the snacks and beverages... Long after the show my soul was still singing, the stage was still on my retinas and my heart went out to Margerita and her Master. If you enjoy this book, visiting the show is a must!
