If you’ve done your Skopje homework, then maybe you know that “Makedonija” street, previously called “Marshall Tito” has always been an essential part of the city. Right there, halfway between the old Railway station and the main square, close to Mother Theresa’s memorial house, you will find “Gnezdo”, a place where you can eat well, drink good coffee and enjoy a live rock band on Friday night. If you’re there for lunch, try the toast, served with fries in mini grocery carts, and if you feel like something sweet, try their crepes. It’s what I did, and trust me, they’re exactly why I will be coming back to Gnezdo :).
This place pays extra attention in making your food look good and it definitely enriches the simple experience of lunch in Skopje. They take pride in their well-organized ‘afterwork parties’, where you can meet many locals, still in their work mood, going there to relax with a cocktail and good music. And what’s also great, is that from there, many other things that you might want to see in Skopje are only minutes away.
