Only two kilometres from the city centre, you will see a wonderful lake called Iidesjärvi. You can walk, run or bike around it - it is about six kilometres long to go around the lake. The views are really nice and there is a really good sidewalk for its whole length. You can see local apartments as well as enjoy the view and water.
What you might not know about Iidesjärvi is that it is one of the most important bird lakes in Tampere. It is also a very important lake for insects. 1217 different insect species have been spotted around the lake! There is also a tower built for birdwatchers on the east side of the lake. The best time to see birds is springtime, but you can still see some birds all year round. In the springtime, there is usually a lot of swans, so it is really beautiful to see them! In summertime, three cows live on the east side of the lake, so you can see them as well!
Don't miss this amazing lake just next to the city centre!
