Tampere's most iconic landmark saw the light of day in 1971. Since then, the city has strongly been identified with this 168 meter observation tower.
Näsinneula is the place you must visit in Tampere. The tower is situated in Särkänniemi amusement park but it can be visited separately.
As you can imagine, Näsinneula offers spectacular views over the city and far beyond. From Näsinneula you can really visualize how Tampere city is situated, i.e. on a very narrow ridge surrounded by two very large lakes, Näsijärvi and Pyhäjärvi. There are also many smaller lakes and there is forest everywhere. Trust me: there is forest all around the city and even in the city itself.
On the top of Näsinneula there are two decks. The lower is a panorama deck with a cafe. It costs 4 euros to take the elevator there.
The higher deck hosts a fine-dining restaurant, Ravintola Näsinneula. The restaurant deck moves around so while enjoying your dinner you can admire 360-degree views! If you have credit left, I strongly recommend tasting the signature of the restaurant, the Seventh Heaven menu. It is a seven-course menu made with local ingredients.
To admire the views, the best time to visit Näsinneula is the daylight, but it's recommendable to visit also when it's dark, as the city is very beautifully lit.
