Papan The Hague – Surfer vibes

Coffee & tea
"Papan serves outstanding coffee, grilled cheese toasties and breakfast burgers. It's spacious and relaxed, there's wifi and you can work on your laptop."
Are we still in the rainy Netherlands? When stepping inside Papan, you feel more like you’re entering a café on Australia’s sunny Gold Coast. I first had a coffee at Papan on a cold, rainy morning in early January 2023. Needless to say, there weren’t that many tourists or surfers in the café back then, but Papan’s vibes are those of a true surfer’s paradise.

Papan serves outstanding coffee, grilled cheese toasties and breakfast burgers. Papan feels spacious and relaxed; you can work on your laptop, there’s wifi and they offer a digital loyalty card. There is inside seating as well as an outside terrace overlooking the harbour and the massive ships. The location is ideal: Papan is just a stone’s throw away from Scheveningen’s pier, so it is the perfect place to grab a coffee before or after a surf! Everything is home-made and fresh tasting and the staff are absolutely lovely. There are ceiling fans in the summer (game changer!), and free cold taper water comes with the coffees, so Papan is worth a visit in summer as well as in winter!
