Tucked away in Valencia's Ruzafa is a vintage store like no other: a cabinet of curiosities with a quirky vibe.
Madame Mim is undoubtedly Valencia's most unusual vintage shop. Its funny name is inspired by the crazy old witch, 'Madame Mim', from a Walt Disney film. The store's highlight is its collection of sexy outfits worn by 1950s star Lolita del RÃo. MarÃa Cervelló has been running the shop since 2012, after leaving a career in the film industry. The shop's theatrical atmosphere reflects her background.
This shop is about more than just second-hand clothes. You'll also find weird objects, antiques, and vintage accessories. I'm drawn to the display cases filled with strange dolls, porcelain animals, and other oddities that I can't quite identify but are intriguing. MarÃa has a talent for displaying her goods in a way that makes every item feel special.
The great thing about Madame Mim is that you can buy or rent clothes. Only the exclusive Lolita del RÃo outfits are for sale. Moreover, the shop has a space at the back that hosts film screenings, photography shoots, and other artistic events. For the latest updates, see Instagram. This is the kind of place where you'll always stumble upon something new and unexpected.
Ruzafa is Valencia's artistic district, filled with second-hand gems, like El Vestidor Vintage and Reborn Vintage Atelier. Kowalski is another standout, an eclectic mix of art supplies, clothing, books, and quirky objects.
