Just 10 km south of Valencia, located on the CV-500 highway towards El Saler, we find one of the most fascinating ecosystems in Spain: the Albufera Natural Park. Albufera is a word that comes from the Arabic al-buhayra and means “ the lake”. It is a freshwater lagoon surrounded by rice fields and forests, a few meters from the Mediterranean Sea and connected to it by artificial channels controlled by gates. It is a privileged place for the study of migratory birds and all types of native fauna and vegetation.
The viewpoint is located on the Gola del Pujol pier, on the right side towards El Saler, from where you can take trips in traditional boats to discover the beauty of this place. The viewpoint, which faces east and has its back to the sea, is the perfect place to admire one of the most romantic sunsets in Spain, surrounded by a natural environment of peace and tranquillity. If it’s the summer season, we advise you to go early to choose a good place and to bring mosquito repellent. It is easily accessible by car, although parking spaces are scarce, and also by bicycle thanks to a bike path that connects from the City of Arts and Sciences or by bus with line 25 from the centre of Valencia.
