When you hear "Grounds for Coffee" you might think you are headed for another of Vancouver's hipster cafes. But there is something different about this one. As you approach, you can smell the comforting scent of cinnamon wafting out the door, a preview of what is in store for you — arguably the best cinnamon buns in the city.
While they are a cafe selling coffee and various baked goods, the main reason people come through the doors is to get one of their delicious cinnamon buns. They are a generous size, always fresh, and have the perfect amount of icing. If you visit near a holiday, you can also find themed cinnamon buns, such as pastel-coloured frosting ones at Easter or pumpkin buns during autumn.
The next upcoming special bun available is their Oreo buns, which will be available on select days in March.
The spacious and minimalist interior has lots of seating for people who want to work on computers or simply enjoy their sweet treats.
While eating mine, I like to look up and check out their unique honeycomb-style lights or people-watch out the window on the busy street outside.
