In a city with hundreds of choices for dumplings, Jingle Bao draws newcomers and regulars with its colourful cuisine.
As soon as you walk in, you are greeted by the bright yellow interior. Then, while you wait to be seated, you get a chance to watch the behind-the-scenes creations of the dumplings in their open kitchen. Finally, as you sit down, you are given free unlimited green tea. Cute bao decorations on every table also create a cheerful atmosphere. All of these small touches take it from just another dumpling restaurant to a place you want to return.
When it comes to ordering, classic choices include the Magnificent Seven—seven soup dumplings with different colours and flavours and their giant soup dumplings, which are served with a straw for easy slurping. Or, if you are feeling indecisive or want to sample a variety, their high tea for two is a great choice (served on a high tea-style platter, of course). It includes a variety of soup dumplings, steamed buns, and even some dessert dumplings and comes to $58. Alternatively there is a $70 sharing platter that lets you try dumplings, salt and pepper chicken, and green tea sesame balls.
Make sure to grab some of the free fortune cookies to enjoy at the end of your meal.
