Vancouver is full of sushi places, and at times it can be overwhelming to decide where to go. Although the selection ranges from cheap to high-end, my favourite has always been the simple neighbourhood-style shops offering a wide variety of dishes at a reasonable price.
One such place is Mr. Sushi. The Lonsdale branch of this little sushi chain has a small and stylish dining space that invites bringing any type of company here - from a date to your family. The best parts are the price-to-quality ratio, fast service, and flavourful sushi. They offer aburi (flame-grilled sushi) in addition to traditional rolls, combination boxes, and special rolls.
It's an inclusive restaurant with dishes for everyone. The asparagus or mushroom rolls are ideal choices for vegans and vegetarians. For meat eaters, the beef teriyaki or spicy tuna and salmon rolls are my recommendation; just make sure to ask for extra water. Their crispy agedashi tofu is a starter dish everyone can enjoy too. My current favourite is their buttery wild salmon and tuna sashimi.
Best of all – your wallet will leave you happy, with combination boxes going for a reasonable $22-25.
I particularly enjoy coming here in summer, when it is nice to sit on the patio or in the air-conditioned inside and enjoy some cold, refreshing food. However, in fall and winter, cooked or flame-grilled sushi is a good option.

My personal favourite parts of this shop are their tote bag wall and their section of mushroom themed merchandise.
