The gelato mafia
Dolce Amore has the best gelato I have tasted in Canada. The current owners attended the Carpigiani Gelato University in Bologna, Italy, and it is evident that they know what they are doing. The company is focused on using local ingredients and organic products when possible, and you can really taste the quality.
My favourite year-round gelato flavours are hazelnut, pistachio, and tipsy tiramisu. Monthly flavours rotate — the new October offerings are Pumpkin Spice, vegan Matcha, alcohol infused Irish Cream and Venetian Fog, a twist on the classic London Fog.
They even have a dedicated affogato bar that lets you customize your affogato with whichever ice cream you want and add a shot of liqueur. If you aren't sure what to do, they have signature combinations you can choose from.
Other than gelato and affogato, they offer coffee, cookies, some ice cream bars, and other desserts. They also offer made-in-house nut butters, which are well worth the splurge. There is limited seating in their small but stylish cafe and a couple of tables outside.
Every time I leave, I am planning my next trip back to try something else.
