Dolce Amore has the best gelato I have tasted in Canada. The current owners attended the Carpigiani Gelato University in Bologna, Italy, and it is evident that they know what they are doing. The company is focused on using local ingredients and organic products when possible, and you can really taste the quality. They also offer vegan flavours so that those with dietary restrictions or allergies can also experience their delicious flavours.
My favourite year-round gelato flavours are hazelnut, pistachio, and tipsy tiramisu. Monthly flavours rotate — there are five April offerings- Vera Vanilla Bean, Mini Egg Oreo Cheesecake, Mocha Almond Fudge, Lemon (Vegan), and Mannaggia Mango (Vegan).
They even have a dedicated affogato bar that lets you customize your affogato with whichever ice cream you want and add a shot of liqueur. If you aren't sure what to do, they have signature combinations you can choose from.
Other than gelato and affogato, they offer coffee, cookies, some ice cream bars, and other desserts. They also offer made-in-house nut butters, which are well worth the splurge. There is limited seating in their small but stylish cafe and a couple of tables outside.
Every time I leave, I am planning my next trip back to try something else.
