After being in Vancouver for a few days, you start realizing that its breathtaking scenery has a lot to do with being by the water. So many of our parks and beaches are either by the ocean or by lakes, and New Brighton Park is no different. In that sense, anyway. What makes it an amazing hangout spot is its variety of options to chill.
Located at the very east side of the city, New Brighton Park has a nice path for your walk or jog, a grass field for some sports fun, a large playground for the kids, several benches and picnic tables, a gated off-leash area for your pups to run around freely, and some small rock beaches. In the summer, New Brighton Pool is there for you to take that refreshing dip on a hot, sunny day. As a bonus, you get a different view of the North Shore, as the park is right by the Port of Vancouver.
New Brighton Park is also part of a group project to restore its shorelines and natural habitat. The plan is to have two hectares of the area kept adequate for fish, and for wildlife as well. Pretty cool, don't you think?
