Ngon Cafe is a nice place for a taste of Vietnam in Vancouver. Vancouver is a city with many Asian places, but I discovered Ngon by chance recently, and this small coffee, dessert, and snack shop provides delicious food at a reasonable price.
My favourites are their coconut coffee and salted cheese coffee, equally tasty on a hot or cold day. They are both very strong, though, so if you haven’t had Vietnamese coffee before, be prepared for the caffeine to last a while.
They serve banh mi too, which are Vietnamese sandwiches usually filled with grilled meats and pickled veggies, as well as a selection of salad rolls, meat, and veggies rolled up on rice paper. My favorite is the grilled beef salad roll, served with a side of complimentary peanut sauce. It is generous and a steal at only $4.00.
