Move over Earnest Ice Cream and Rain or Shine; there’s a new gourmet ice cream bar in town: Rooster Ice Cream. Located on a quiet stretch of East Broadway between Clark Dr. and Fraser St, it makes artisanal ice cream using quality natural ingredients without chemicals or additional flavouring.
Their flavours range from traditional options like dark chocolate, and cookies and cream to more unusual flavours like lime and organic lavender, black sesame and honey. My favourite of the bunch is their award-winning avocado honey with vodka, which is rich with avocado flavour and slightly sweetened by the honey. You can’t taste the vodka at all and you can actually see bits of avocado in your scoop.
They’re always experimenting and coming up with new flavours. They also have vegan options which use a coconut base. On their menu you can also find pints that you can take home, sundaes, root beer floats, ice cream filled doughnuts and ice cream sandwiches. Do yourself a favour and make the trek out to Rooster’s for a tasty scoop.
