This was the first sushi place I went to after moving here, and it’s still my go-to place when I’m craving Japanese food.
A few blocks east of Main street, their location has recently been remodeled, but maintains its simplicity and quiet. With an endless menu of goodies, you’d better come to Sushiyama hungry, because I guarantee there’s plenty on there you’ll want to try.
What to order? Well, where do I start? If you’re a sashimi fan like myself, then you definitely want to have the sockeye salmon, tuna belly, and tuna tataki. I know it sounds cliché, but they melt in your mouth, I swear! It’s also amazing how it pairs well with some hot sake. Other appies I enjoy are the agedashi tofu, and the seaweed salad. Move on to the nigari sushi, and feel free to be creative. It’s a fun portion of the menu to explore, since you order them in units.
When you get to the rolls, again it’s an extensive list, so follow your heart. But, if you’ve never tried the futomaki, then do it. It’s a mix of simple ingredients that just comes together super well! And, before I forget, the mango mango roll.
