(OK, so I am probably unreasonably excited about this sandwich shop but you will understand once you try it.) These sandwiches are absolutely incredible! Made with the same non-medicated free range meats that are sold at the attached butcher (Windsor Meat Co.) this butcher to bun sandwich shop creates gourmet sandwiches that will blow your mind.
The first sandwich I got from The Meatery was the Duck Confit on Cranberry Pistachio Sourdough, I am salivating right now just writing about it. This beautiful sandwich was only available for a limited time but I am constantly begging them to bring it back. Although I haven't the faintest idea why they took it off the menu since it won best sandwich in Vancouver for 2014.
Beyond incredible sandwiches The Meatery also makes good soups and an incredible chili. This chili was out of this world - so, meaty and flavorful, I have never had another chili like it. Also, while providing an elaborate oration about my fondness for their chili I may have offended the Vancouver Fire Department and they may be in pursuit of a chili cook-off challenge with The Meatery to reclaim the best chili title as The Meatery has also won that for 2015.
The Meatery may not look like much but you need to go there and allow them the pleasure of astounding you with their spectacular creations.
Local Tip: The Meatery also has some of my favorite local beers on tap for $ 4.
