If you’re after a cheap, but tasty bite in the downtown area, then look no further than Viet Sub on Robson Street near the Vancouver Library. Get their namesake and try one of their varieties of a banh mi, a Vietnamese sub. Fillings range from the traditional cold cuts and meatball to more unusual items like BBQ or kimchi sub. If you can’t decide, get the special sub which mixes Vietnamese ham, cold cuts, and meatballs all into one sandwich. All of them come with the usual toppings of pickled vegetables, cilantro and a delicious sweet sauce that is spread inside the warm and crisp baguette.
If you’re looking for something a little heartier, they also offer various types of pho noodle soups, rice dishes and vermicelli bowls. Also on the menu are spring rolls and salad rolls with various types of fillings. While the line may get long during lunch times, it moves quickly and you get your food quite fast.
