My lovely Amerlinghaus. I admit I may be very biased when it comes to this place. It is where I have rehearsals with my theatre group. This is a building in the 7th district of Vienna with a beautiful inner yard. There is a café on the ground floor – the Amerlingbeisl – which is quite popular. But most people visiting the café have no idea what is going on in the rest of the house.
The Amerlinghaus houses a cultural association that rents out the rooms of the house to different groups and clubs. My theatre group is one example, but there are also several other things taking place in those rooms – language courses, exhibitions, video screenings, book readings, and many more. There are private clubs, but also many events open to the public – check out their website for the current schedule and info.
The gallery system and greenery in the inner yard make this place very comfortable to be in in the summer but also in the wintertime. The annual (and famous) Christmas market at Spittelberg is happening in and around this house, so be sure to check it out!
