The smell, the Italian staff, the pasta... everything starts reminding you of Italy as soon as you walk in, and that is when you know you are at the right place to have authentic Italian food. It is also located in one of Barcelona's most hip and trendy neighbourhoods, Gracia.
Right away, as you open the door, you see the pasta bar and the chef creating a multitude of pasta dishes right in front of your eyes. You see the chef multitasking, cracking an egg on one pan and adding cream (carbonara) to another, or a classic tomato sauce. It was amazing to see the speed he was cooking at!
Macchina is a place to customise your own pasta dish. You chose the type of pasta you want (there are about 5 different types of pasta), the sauce, as well as any extra ingredients you would like.
It can get very busy on the weekends and a little noisy due to the great amount of people trying to have a conversation and talking over each other. Be prepared to also maybe have to wait for a table.
Still, a delicious experience overall!
