If you’re into indie music and a good beer, as I am, why not have a few drinks in this emblematic bar in Gràcia?
Situated near Plaça de la Vila de Gràcia, Vinilo Bar is a small and popular spot that first opened its doors in 2005. It’s owned by Jordi Lanuza, the singer for Barcelona dreampop band, Inspira.
It’s the place where local indie musicians meet, and many bands started their lives here. A few years ago, the bar had it’s own music festival, ViniloFest. It’s considered an important place in terms of promoting a healthy Barcelona indie music scene.
This charming bar has a huge screen and a projector which plays old movies, and a good few posters of musicians such as Bowie, and images related to live music dot the wall between three large mirrors.
Actor Elijah Wood – Frodo in Lord of the Rings– once said in an interview that he spent a good amount of time in this bar when they were filming the movie Grand Piano.
If you walk past the bar when it’s closed you’ll see that the painting on the metal blind is from the cover art for Elliott Smith’s album ‘Figure 8‘.
A caña costs 2.50€, and they’ve also got a wide selection of bottled beers – including La Goudale and their own bottled beer, Vinilo Pale Ale.
It’s a good spot to have a few drinks with friends and enjoy the indie side of Barcelona.
