Not far from “La Pointe”, where the Rhone and Arve rivers meet, in the Jonction area, you can find this alternative multicultural artist space called Usine & Fonderie Kugler.
Originally a tap factory, this building has been converted into a cultural space devoted to emerging arts projects, where many resident artists (over 200) have now their studios and ateliers.
The first time I saw it while wandering around my neighbourhood, I could not figure out exactly what it was (a mix between an occupied building and an abandoned factory?) but I felt very attracted and intrigued by it. I entered it, passed through the courtyard and discovered its magic!
The inside is very spacious, with an overall surface of around 400 square meters that still keeps the architectural characteristics of a factory building. The inner space is so “flexible” it can accommodate many different types of events such as exhibitions, concerts, DJ nights and even markets, such as the recent Art market they organise every year during the month of November.
Fonderie & Usine Kugler is a hidden, secret Geneva spot: check out their events calendar and have fun!
