Whenever I travel abroad I always have visiting a record shop in my mind. This is what I hear from most of the travellers to Istanbul as well. So here is another suggestion for music lovers. The name is Groove and the owner is music devotee Sami Ovadya. I have known him for years and have always respected his music choice especially for Jazz.
Groove is located, in the posh district of Istanbul, Nişantaşı but no need to be alarmed as the rates are most convenient. Actually I could easily say that you pay what it's worth. Nothing less or more.
The collection of second hand vinyl's is not huge but the content is just perfect. And the price balance is mind blowing. Sami, as a music doctor, will take your preferences and suggest what you can listen to further and this comes in the package once you enter the shop. The rates you will discover are basically the best in town. Especially the second hand vinyls are very affordable.
The atmosphere is very cosy and modern. You can sit on the couch and listen to whatever Sami is playing for that day and moment. Also you can experience a variety of lovely suggestions from any genre.
If you have time and like to discover a different part of Istanbul you must stop by Groove, I know you will not be disappointed.
